This summer is no ordinary one at Notting Hill College. Our language school Think English will host its Summer School right here at Notting Hill College’s Greater Manchester headquarters!
Over two weeks, learners aged 10 to 17 from all over the world will join us to learn English, develop life skills and have fun.
Think English recently held an induction session with two of its teachers, Kirsty and Paul, sharing details of the Summer School and answering attendees’ questions. Watch the full session below.
English lessons at the Summer School will be far from boring. To get students to truly engage with the language and to have fun whilst learning it, lessons and projects will revolve around real-world situations and concepts that they can relate to.
The Summer School will lean into ‘immersive theory’. This is the perspective that a learner can pick up the English language quickly by living and interacting within an English-speaking environment. We believe this gives students an experience which is close to replicating the learning of their first language and enhances overall language development.
Each lesson integrates activities which enhance all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Special attention is given to grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
Develop life skills
Students will enjoy character-building activities throughout their time at the Summer School. Projects are designed to grow their skills in critical thinking, analytical thinking, decision-making, creativity, leadership, communication and teamwork.
During these engaging sessions, students will work together and experience a supportive, interactive learning environment.
Summer School students will join us from all over the world, meaning their time here is a chance to soak up a new culture and a whole new city.
Alongside their learning sessions at our Salford campus, students will go on exciting excursions around the Greater Manchester area.
Trips include a visit to Manchester United’s famous football stadium and museum visits, as well as activities such as skiing, trampolining, kayaking and team sports.
Attendees can choose from two dates to attend the Summer School.
10th July to 23rd July 2022
7th August to 20th August 2022
There is also the option to attend for just one week of your choice. Students must attend their full timetable of lessons throughout the duration of their time at the Summer School which will take place in the daytime. They must have a parent, guardian or chaperone to go back to in the evenings as Think English does not provide accommodation. Notting Hill College is located in Salford, Greater Manchester and there is so much to see, do and enjoy here. Our campus is only a short walk from MediaCityUK, a media and cultural hub where many television shows are filmed. It is also accessible by tram from Manchester city centre and there are nearby bus routes to help you get around the area.
Think English’s teachers are passionate about growing learners’ abilities and confidence, as well as in looking out for their welfare.
All of our teachers are knowledgeable, skilled and experienced and truly have a passion for growing students’ English abilities. They are also DBS checked and fully qualified to teach English to children. Our teachers’ expertise means they can engage children with a wide variety of proven activities.
